About The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe

Mercedes-Benz has a history of building the absolute most technologically advanced and desirable sports cars in the world. Even the styling of the Mercedes-AMG® GT Coupe calls on this history, and is reminiscent of the 300SL from the 1950s, an absolutely groundbreaking sports car that became an instant icon. Today’s model is no less impressive, with advanced drivetrains, staggering power, and the extensive advanced tech to make all that power usable. There is an interior to match the performance as well, with Nappa leather upholstery and a high-end Burmester® stereo system. The GT Coupe can dash to 60 mph in as little as 2.7 seconds, but this comfortable grand tourer is built for long and luxurious high-speed road trips, the way a proper GT is supposed to be.

What the Critics Say

The GT Coupe lineup retains its gentleman’s GT status by artfully blending the attributes of an all-out performance sports car with a well-appointed luxury interior, modern tech, and a stiff construction rich in aluminum, steel, magnesium, and fiber composites.” — Car & Driver

As if other AMG® cars weren’t serious enough, the GT Coupe gets down to the tough business of being a track-worthy machine that owners could drive daily throughout the year, using technology from its highly successful involvement in Formula 1 racing.” — Kelley Blue Book

What’s New for 2025

The GT Coupe got a total redesign for 2024, after a brief production hiatus. And while most manufacturers might rest on their laurels, Mercedes-AMG has added two new drivetrains to the GT Coupe lineup. The first is the GT43, a four-cylinder hybrid-assisted turbocharged engine, which is nearly as powerful as the V8 in the GT 55, but at a much more attractive starting price. The other is the GT 63 63 S E Performance, which uses the V8 biturbo engine from the GT 653, but adds a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that significantly boosts power, and is now by far the most powerful GT Coupe version.

Incredible Power

No Mercedes-AMG® product has ever been lacking in power, but the GT Coupe is a flagship model, and as such really raises the bar. All of the engines are handcrafted, each one built by just a single specialist from start to finish. Technology developed by Mercedes-AMG® in the crucible of Formula 1 racing has been added to make more power, and that power more usable. The first engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a hybrid-assisted turbocharger, which makes an incredible 416 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Enough to send the GT 43 Coupe to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Next is a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 that makes 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, enough for a 3.8-second 0-60 time. The GT 63 Coupe turns the power up on this engine, raising output to 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, and dropping the 0-60 time to just 3.1 seconds. The quickest of all is the GT 63 S E Performance, which adds a plug-in hybrid drivetrain to the V8 from the GT 63. This means a staggering 805 horsepower and 1,047 lb-ft of torque. Unsurprisingly, this version of the GT Coupe will hit 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds.

Racing-Derived Handling

Straight-line speed is great, but it’s handling that makes a sports car truly great. Mercedes-AMG® has years of incredibly successful racing experience to help make road cars with absolutely sublime handling. Active aerodynamics route air over, under, and through the GT Coupe with precision, while the ESP Dynamic Cornering Assist® as well as the Available 4MATIC® all-wheel drive make sure that power is similarly routed where it’s needed under any conditions. Huge composite brakes, or available carbon-ceramic brakes, help to reign in this power when necessary as well, keeping you in control at all times. And of course, the standard AMG® Dynamic Select lets you choose from a list of driving modes, from Comfort to Slippery, Sport and Sport+, or you can program your own custom mode.

Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe

Luxury Interior

While a pure sports car might be able to get away with a spartan interior, a grand tourer like the GT Coupe needs to be as comfortable as it is quick, and the GT Coupe absolutely lives up to this. Nappa leather upholstery comes standard, as well as 64-color ambient lighting, and heated front memory seats. There is a lot more cargo space than you’d expect in a performance vehicle, an important feature for a road trip vehicle, and the power liftgate makes accessing it easy. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 11.9-inch central touchscreen run on the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)®, and include MB Navigation®, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®. There’s a wireless charger for your device as well, plus in-car WiFi. And while the engine might sound great, Mercedes-Benz knows you might want to listen to music, and the GT Coupe comes standard with a Burmester® Surround Sound system.
