Under the hood is a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine that produces 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Things like direct injection and multispark ignition make the engine more efficient and more responsive at the same time. Helping this is the mild hybrid system, which improves low-end power delivery and also allows Mercedes-Benz to eliminate belts from the engine, along with the associated parasitic drain on power. Things like augmented reality video for navigation is something most manufacturers haven’t even introduced as an option yet, but it comes standard on the E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain. One listen to the standard Burmester® 4D Surround Sound System and you’ll agree that advanced technology has improved every aspect of the E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain.
Unbeatable Versatility
The first thing you’ll notice about the E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain is the huge increase in cargo space. The sedan version of the E-Class comes with a trunk measuring 12.7 cubic feet, but the E 450 4MATIC All-Terrain comes with 33.1 cubic feet of space behind the back seats, and 64.6 cubic feet with the seats folded down. That’s enough to compete with midsize SUVs, but as a wagon, there is no compromise in handling to get it. And when you want to take all that cargo off the pavement, there is an off-road mode that raises the suspension to its maximum height, and gives you a “Transparent Hood” display on the dash for spotting obstacles directly in front of your wheels. The 4MATIC® all-wheel drive system that comes standard gives you great traction on or off the road.
