Mercedes-Benz to Build New ML Coupe in Alabama
Next year, Mercedes-Benz will be adding a new ML Coupe to its lineup. To make room for this new crossover, the Daimler plant in Vance, Alabama will expand to add 60,000 more vehicles per year.
The Mercedes-Benz ML Coupe will be the fifth vehicle produced at the 4 million-square-foot facility in Alabama. The ML Coupe made its debut at the Beijing Auto Show this past April and is a blend between a small crossover and a coupe.
“We’re calling 2015 the ‘Year of the SUV’ for Mercedes and Tuscaloosa because we will roll out the all-new ML Coupe and have facelifts of the ML and GL,” Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche told a gathering of local officials and community members at the plant announcement. “That also means more investment and yet another increase in production.”
Here at Mercedes-Benz of Easton, we are excited to see that Mercedes-Benz is expanding its commitment to the United States. Having popular models built directly here makes it easier for Mercedes-Benz to make changes to fit the U.S. market.
