Mercedes-Benz Producing a Bulletproof Model, The Guard
Automotive website Digital Trends is reporting that the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is getting another update. The vehicle that is already “one of the most well-equipped cars on the market” is adding another optional feature – armor!
The company has begun production of a new model that can survive weapons attacks, the S-Class “Guard,” which has a 3.9-inch thick windshield and a 1.9-inch steel plate that surrounds the passenger cell. That protection enables the Guard to “reportedly withstand direct hits from military-grade firearms, as well as shrapnel from hand grenades.”
The Guard is only available in S 600 form, which boasts a 6.0-L, twin-turbocharged V12 engine. The S 600’s impressive 523 horsepower should keep the car speedy even after the added weight, which is good news if you are a British spy looking for the perfect car to use in a chase scene.
Of course, unless you are a sitting head of state or someone with an abnormally dangerous work commute, the Guard may not be the Mercedes-Benz that best suits you. To find the model that does, stop by Mercedes-Benz of Easton today.
