About the EQS by Mercedes-EQ
Say hello to the next chapter of luxury motoring with the thrilling EQS. Part of the upcoming family of Mercedes-EQ electrified vehicles, the EQS takes inspiration from the iconic S-Class to welcome you to the electric future in its most luxurious form. Smooth, seamless power delivery from a dual electric motor powertrain strikes a balance between refinement and exhilaration, unlike any other luxury vehicle.
In addition to remarkable efficiency and performance capabilities, the EQS also showcases the latest groundbreaking technological innovations from Mercedes-EQ. Taking center stage is the awe-inspiring MBUX Hyperscreen. Measuring over 56 inches wide, this massive screen represents the emotional intelligence of the all-electric flagship model. Combined with a sustainably-assembled yet impeccably equipped cabin, the EQS ushers in an entirely new era of luxury travel.
What the Critics Say
Calling the all-electric 2022 EQS electrifying is an easy pun, but it’s also entirely accurate. Imagine a roomier and quieter S-class that has a dazzling digital grille and a glowing pinstripe that circles the entire car. While our expectations are based on the company’s Vision EQS concept car, we expect many of its impressive characteristics to translate to the production version.” — Car and Driver
Calling the upcoming EQS a Tesla slayer this early in the game seems like a stretch-or maybe it’s not. Inspired by the EQS concept from the 2019 Frankfurt show, the production EQS is set to arrive on our shores in 2021 riding on an EV-specific platform with room for a battery pack large enough to challenge the driving range of the Tesla Model S.” — MotorTrend
Located at each axle, optional twin electric motors are smartly positioned within the floor of the EQS in an effort to achieve a low center of gravity and balanced handling. EQS 450+ variants produce a total of 329 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque while the EQS 580 4MATIC® turns up the adrenaline to 516 horsepower and 611 lb-ft of torque. As a result, the EQS can rocket from 0 to 60 MPH in as little as 5.5 seconds on the way to a maximum speed of 130 MPH.
Made possible by its standard AIRMATIC® Air Suspension with Adaptive Damping System, the EQS easily absorbs imperfections in the road while providing a serene ride. The advanced rear-axle steering capabilities of the EQS add up to 4.5 degrees of steering angles. Drivers can also choose between Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Individual drive modes within the DYNAMIC SELECT system to customize their experience behind the wheel. Thanks to its groundbreaking DC Fast Charging (200 kW) capabilities, charging from 10-100% takes as little as 31 minutes.
Representing the pinnacle of technological innovation, the stunning interior of the EQS transforms the way drivers can connect to their vehicle. The crown jewel of the interior is the revolutionary MBUX Hyperscreen. Consisting of a stunning 56-inch curved screen panel, the Hyperscreen features machine-learning capabilities, jaw-dropping display clarity, and intuitive operating. Some technical highlights of this system include 8 CPU cores, 24-gigabyte RAM, and 46.4 GB per second RAM memory bandwidth. Haptic feedback is delivered through a total of 12 individual actuators across the entire surface of the touchscreen and the system supports up to 27 different languages. AI data processing capabilities are able to provide intuitive suggestions based on input from the driver.
Achieving harmony between sustainable craftsmanship and first-class refinement, the luxurious interior of the EQS is inspired by the legendary S-Class. Standard multicontour front seats include massage and heating functions to help soothe both tension and stress. Hear your favorite songs the way the artists intended them to be heard with an available Burmester® 3D Sound System with Sound Personalization. At the touch of a button, you can choose between one of 64 colors from the standard Active Ambient Lighting inside the cabin of the EQS. Other examples of premium features found on the EQS include wireless charging integrated into the front armrest, 4-zone climate control, soft-close doors, and a panoramic sunroof.
