Mercedes-Benz Introduces New 4.0-liter Twin-Turbo V8 Engine
Mercedes-Benz is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to building powerful engines. Whether it is the beloved M156 6.2-liter V8 or a modern powerhouse 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, the brand is just synonymous with great performance. The newest addition to Mercedes’ performance lineup is the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, a sexy mill that is set to debut in the Mercedes AMG GT. Under the codename M178, the turbocharged engine will churn out an extraordinary 510 horsepower and a really impressive 479 lb-ft of torque. The new 4.0-liter is a match for the 6.2-liter V8 in the SLS AMG, making it a terrific engine choice for those who love to go fast, quickly. With an aluminum crankcase, the engine is also significantly lighter than most, meaning that it doesn’t weight down a car like others might. The engine will be arriving under the AMG GT’s hood later this year, so keep an eye on Mercedes-Benz of Easton for its arrival.
