smart fourjoy Concept Unveiled at Frankfurt Motor Show
Concept cars are meant to push the envelope and the new smart fourjoy concept definitely fits the bill! It’s a four seat concept that decided to pass on doors, a rear windshield, and a roof. Who needs those anyways? The new smart car has a futuristic look with a white finish and chrome accents. The doors were deliberately left off to give viewers a better look at the futuristic, modern art inspired interior.
“The smart fourjoy is the perfect icon of our smart design philosophy that is being carried into a new era,” said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG in a press release.
The design stays pretty true to the original smart formula; however, it provides a looking glass into what the next forfour model has in store. It is rumored that the forfour will go into production early next year and hit European showrooms by the end of 2014.
The smart fourjoy concept is an electric car with a 55 kW magneto-electric motor and 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. It charges in seven hours with a normal household outlet but only takes an hour at a power charging station. Even though it can seat four passengers, it’s still a pretty compact car measuring in at 138 inches long or 11.5 feet. Its small size makes it ideal for urban areas and makes it easy to park!
